TransLink teamed up with Modo Co-op car share and the Liftango ride-matching app to launch the Vanpool Program, offering people a new way to get to work while boosting the number of car-share vehicles in the region. (Note: The program is currently paused until further notice.)
The project was to develop vehicle branding for the Vanpool Program. Since the designated vehicles aren’t exclusive to the program, they needed to be easily recognizable to both Vanpool and Modo members. Early on, the team asked me to integrate the TransLink and Modo logos into the design.
This was a really unique and challenging project because I had to find a way to blend these two well-known logos without altering their original forms. We went through several iterations before landing on a concept that worked. The goal was to visually show integration and movement while maintaining the integrity of both brands.
I took inspiration from the shapes and colors of the logos to come up with a clean and modern look. The line symbolizes movement and connection, while the dots represent people and places coming together. For the back of the vehicles, we opted to only use the standard logos without the additional design elements due to space restrictions.
