My favourite project to date is the Vaisakhi Parade Bus Wrap. I was tasked with creating an artwork for a 60-foot bus wrap to represent TransLink at the Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade held in April. It is a Sikh cultural celebration and one of the Lower Mainland’s largest festival events bringing an estimated 350-400K attendees every year.
The request was to make vibrant art using yellow as the primary colour.
The artwork was inspired by the bright and rich colours of the festival. Vivid yellows, oranges, pinks, and greens fill the streets reflecting the joy, happiness, and excitement all around. I also drew inspiration from the spring season, a time to celebrate renewal and spirit of life. Large floral elements adorn the wrap capturing the energetic, full-of-life, and vivacious nature of the festivities.
From the initial stages of concepting to completion, it was a joy to create artwork that was not only colourful and vibrant but also meaningful to the communities we serve.
